Student Ministers

The Eucharistic Liturgy is the source and summit of the faith life of UB - St. Joe’s. Our Sunday 8 PM Student Mass offers the opportunity for our students to gather in prayer and give thanks for all that God has done for us.

To make these Liturgies true celebrations, we take advantage of the many talents of our students to serve our Liturgies through a variety of ministries.

UB - St. Joe’s offers the following ways for students to become involved in the liturgical life:

Readers

Readers serve as those who proclaim the Word of God to the faith community at the Liturgy.  It is the task of the Readers to proclaim the scriptures so that they command the attention of all.  Proclaiming the Word is different from any other reading.  Eye contact and presence is of the essence -- God speaks to people through the Reader.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers assist the clergy in serving at Mass by helping to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful.

Training sessions for all Liturgical Ministries take place in the Fall and Spring Semesters for new-comers. If you are interested in learning more about any of our Liturgical Ministries please contact a Campus Minister

Sacred & Liturgical Music

We encourage any student with a musical gift to use that gift in the celebration of Mass.  Students with an interest in cantoring or playing an instrument at our Sunday 8 PM Student Mass should contact Tim Wells, our Music Minister, after Mass.
